"Seek for the Sword that was broken:
In Imladris it dwells;

There shall be counsels taken
Stronger than Morgul-spells.

There shall be shown a token
That Doom is near at hand,

For Isildur's Bane shall waken,
And the Halfling forth shall stand."

A Life Lesson And Flames
( 2006-05-16 @ 12:15 a.m. )

So for the second time in a little over a week, I nearly had to flee my home liek a refugee. Wild fires are out of control and thsi time they came VERY close.

I got the call to evacuate and TRUST ME....you have to evaluate your life. What do you take? What do you leave to burn?

Sure, I grabebd pictures...all my letters from friends and former sisters. Usual stuff, but also my red-leather obund copy of the trilogy signed by LOTR cast...my WETA Boromir statue, certain action figures and my My Little ponies, writing and special books....gifts from friends and sisters. Things that some people may think foolish...espcially the toys and the statue.

Then the wind shifted and we dodged another bullet. Just a little bit ago however, I walked to the end of my road that is blocked off {we have 2 entrances and exits, one is blocked because the fire is burning farther up that road.}. I went to see if he had an update from the firefighters. As I stood there a rare and large spotted owl alighted on the sign next to me. The cop shined his light on it and it flew to the tree stump next to the entrance to my neighborhood. The owl stared at me for a good 5 minutes, and I watched through the binoculars I had brought to watch the water-dropping helicopters.

The owl seemed to be saying "You rest easy now, I'm watching your neighborhood and everything is ok".

So I thanked the owl, and as I watched through binoculars he NODDED at me. Even the cop said he thought he was watching us, and then he said "I feel at peace now."

I just learned a life lesson...from an owl.

All else is well. Love you all. Another update soon.
