Unicorns DO Give A Shit
( 2004-01-14 @ 10:43 p.m. )
Wheee! Well here I am again, sorry for the late update, am busy.......
For those ofyou who did not see, I have two Gathering pictures here. One of myself {dressed as Galadriel}, Ruth and Beckers, and another of me as Galadriel, Ruth, Beckers and Roxy! The girls look lovley, I am convinced I just look ridiculous!
Me, Fruthy and Beckers's head! WHEEE!
Me, Beckers, Ruth and Roxy
In any case, I sent off a large batch of letters, so if you were expecting one you will probably get it, I still have another batch of 6 or 7 or so to write. So if yours isnt in this batch, it will be in the next batch. I promise, Between Gathering, Christmas, and everything else I got behind. I have Christmas gifts wrapped and ready to send as well, so once I find boxes and get the money they will be sent. I apologize for being so late. I hardly ever do this.
You know how I always used to say that Unicorns dont give a shit if you believe in them, anymore if you give a shit if they believe in you?
I may have been wrong.
All of us like to feel special at some point in time, and there are those of us who are convinced we *ARE* something special. A misplaced elf or Fae creature. When we are young we all make up stories, that perhaps we are a princess of a distant land, and one day our parents or a prince will sweep us off to a beautiful kingdom......
Then some of us, as we get older never quite stop believing that. We feel as if we just "dont belong". It's a feeling that grows. Some of us abhor that feeling and hate the fact that we dont seem to belong, some of us treasure it however. In the end, soem of us truly begin to believe that we are different and special, misplaced, forgotten.........but still magical.
Those people are a special breed, because no matter how many times you tell them they are foolish and naieve. Or that they need to grow up, or that they are living in a fantasy world....they persist. They carry on, trudging forward without a single glance back, while you sigh, shrug and turn away disgusted as they continue to weave fantasy stories, draw fantastical scenes, compose wondorous poetry, or just carry a aura of magic you cant even touch.
It furstrates some people without end. Parents become exasperated, sometimes friends are even lost.
But still they persist. They trudge on through adversity and eventually learn to shrug off the insults and jokes.
Why?
Well some people do beieve in themselves this way, or see themselves this way {myself included}. There is little or nothing anyone can do to make them think otherwise. However...........it's validation that makes us pour our hearts open to others, to seek companionship from people that feel the same.
Despite how much we believe in ourselves, and despite the fact that I am convinced I am an elf and nothing will make me believe otherwise, other people still laugh. Those of us who see ourselves in this light, just like any other magical creature seek validation.
Because when you are convinced you are magical, but after years of people laughing and teasing you begin to believe it's all a lie...it is the greatest tragedy of all. We seek company to validate our belief in ourselves so that this same company when asked will respond "Oh yes, Ivy. She's a Noldorian Elf from Lothlorien but you can occasionaly find her in Gondor" without batting a eye or laughing.
We seek like company because like the unicorn that approaches the weeping girl on the beach, or the Faerie that seeks the company of a young child we seek others to recognize us. Perhaps the unicorn tires of being seen as a horse, or the Faerie is sick of being mistaken as a dragonfly, or a simple trick of the light.
And can you really blame them?
Those of us who know what we are should indeed be proud, but there is no loss of pride in seeking validation from fellow Elves, or Fae, or whatever it may be.
It is truly those who laugh or mock, scold and punish who should be ashamed.......because all they will ever see are horses and dragonflies.
We all want friends that understand. So I stand corrected, Unicorns do giove a shit if you believe in them, and if you do, they may just believe in you as well.
So to all of my friends who indulge me, and more importantly belive in "Ivy the Elf" if that is what I choose to be, thank you.....this entry is for you.
I am sure I have droned on quite enough. So I will just stop now.
And on that note.........BILLY!
Because I am random like that.
Until Then...
Believe and you WILL find your way...
